Reservation & Cancellation Policy |
|
The Greyfield Inn is committed to providing its guests with
distinctive and exceptional service and hospitality. To
maintain its special and exclusive qualities, we remain small
in size in order to provide personalized service and maintain
the integrity of the property and the Island. Because of our
remote location, advance logistical requirements, and being a
destination property, most bookings are scheduled well in
advance. When Greyfield Inn accepts a reservation, it
guarantees that it will provide the accommodation offered
without exceptions. This is our commitment to you. In
return, guests are required to respect and adhere to the
reservation and cancellation policies.
The following constitute our "contract" and sets forth our
reservation and cancellation policies.
Minimum Stays: To ensure that guests are able to take full advantage of Inn services including Island/wilderness tours, Greyfield Inn has a minimum two night stay requirement. Holidays require a three-night minimum stay. Holidays consist of the following: New Years, Valentines Day, Easter, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving and Christmas. Holiday periods encompass the actual holiday and the adjoining weekend. |
|
Cancellation Period:
The Inn has a strict 30-day cancellation policy during which all reservations are guaranteed and may not be cancelled for any reason without forfeiture of the deposit. Cancellations during, or prior to, the 30-day period must be made either by speaking (in person) with a reservationist or by email. Answering machine messages do not constitute notification. Holiday reservations are n on-cancelable at all times. A holiday reservation is binding and a cancellation at any time results in forfeiture of the deposit. The cancellation period for group bookings is 90 days for 2-6 rooms and 180 days for 7 or more rooms. Reservations for "overflow" rental lodging are non-cancelable. |
|
No Show:
Reservations which are cancelled on either the day of the reservation or by not showing up without notification are the full responsibility of the guest and payment in full is required. In addition to the 50% deposit, the balance will be charged to the guest. |
|
Substitution:
In the event that a cancellation within the cancellation period is unavoidable, we have found that the best way to avoid a penalty is for the guest to arrange to substitute a family member, friend or co-worker for their booking. This will avoid either a cancellation fee or the forfeiture of the deposit. |
|
Deposit/Processing Fee:
A 50% deposit of the base rate and an amount not less than the one-night base rate, whichever is greater, shall be collected as a deposit at the date of booking by credit card. (Visa, Master Card or Discover.) The deposit guarantees the reservation. Any reservation cancelled outside of the 30-day cancellation period is subject to a $50 per room processing fee. |
|
Dinner/Day Trip Reservation:
Dinner reservations and day trip reservations are considered guaranteed within 3 days (72 hours) of the date of the reservation. Cancellation within 72 hours results in the forfeiture of the deposit. |
|
Weather:
Exceptions to the cancellation policies for inclimate weather are not granted. The only exception to this is the closure of the Inn. The closure of the Inn would occur in the event of an evacuation of the area for a hurricane. This is a rare event, which has occurred only several times in the 40-year history of the Inn. Weather conditions in the place of origin are not exceptions. Cancelled air reservations due to weather, likewise, do not constitute a basis for cancellation. |
|
Room Assignment:
Cottage rooms are booked individually, but are considered interchangeable to accommodate special needs. The Inn reserves the right to reassign bookings within the cottages. In the Main House, "marsh rooms" are considered to be interchangeable given equivalent bedding arrangements. |
|
Ferry Schedule:
Ferry bookings are on first come, first serve basis. All ferry reservations must be booked at the time of reservation to guarantee space and preferred times. The boats depart at the scheduled times. Early arrival is required. In the event of a missed boat, a water taxi will be scheduled for the guest at their cost or the guest may take the next scheduled boat. |
|
Our Wish:
We welcome you as our guest. It is our desire that no one forfeit a deposit. We simply ask that reservations not be made if you cannot honor the reservation and the guarantee you have placed by your deposit.
